Would it be possible to remove the spey blade on my GEC #73. I really think that I would carry it more if it was a little more pocket friendly.

Even if the secondary blade (spey) was removed, you'd still have to figure out how to reassemble everything into a single backspring folder, in order to make it more 'pocket friendly', as you say. Unless you're a masterful bladesmith, I see no simple way to do that.

If I've checked correctly, the GEC #73 (trapper pattern) is available in both single and 2-bladed versions. The single blade version (minus the spey blade) is what you're looking for.

Thanks for the reply Dave I'm afraid I was unclear.I would not likely want to tackle the job myself, rather, find someone to do it for me.I thought that someone else may have done something similar. By the way, you are totally right about the single bladed 73 but this knife and I have a little history.

Ah. In that case, if you think it's worthwhile to pay someone to do it (I'd think it'd be pretty expensive), you might find some recommendations here. I'm sure others here will chime in on this.

Good luck.

Edited to add:
You might ask this question in the Traditional forum, too. Lots of GEC fans there. I've never had any dealings with GEC's customer service, but it might be worth seeing if they can help you out. I'm sure it's not the sort of thing they'd do for free, but they might have some ideas or recommendation as to what you might do. Just a thought.
