Removing black oxide

What methods work for removing black oxide coating? I like the look/style of the Esee 2.5, but hate the black finish. Will chemical and/or manual methods negatively affect the steel?

Aluminum oxide grit blast will do, followed with a silica media blast to add a bit of sheen. If your base metal is stainless you will be good to go. If it is carbon steel you may want to force a patina as to not always worry about maintenance
