removing blade advertising

Is there an easy way to remove all the writing (advertising) that is on the face of the blade of my BM griptilian or Camillus EDC, without messing up the blade finish?

Thanks in advance.

I believe that most present day markings on knife blades are indeed "in" the steel itself. If you were to run your thumbnail across the etched surface, you would find it to be perfectly smooth with the rest of the blade. The only thing I can think of, would be to coat the blade to make the etch less visible, that is a ridiculous solution though. The only other way would be to grind the .001 or so off of the blade to remove the portion of steel with the markings. This would be evident though.

Sorry, that's all I have for ideas :(

I took the BT off my Emerson Mach 1 and the logo was still there, though it looked subdued in a cool way.

Yea, the etches are pretty deep. I sanded/scotchbrited, and buffed a CRKT KISS and the etch was still on there, and still very easy to read.

I've took all the writing off all my CRKTs with a cotton buffer with stainless rouge on a simple bench grinder! If held to the light you can barely see it! BM come off easier than the CRKT! I've got a Stryker that all the markings are gone!

Usually people complain about how fast the etching on the blade wears off just in normal use ... I've never heard of anybody who wanted to having much difficulty polishing it off before. Have you tried cutting cardboard with it? That usually does it in no time....

You could also try steel wool. I used that to remove the logo on an old BM Ascent. It was a very light etch and it came off immediately.

A laser etch is a lot different though; I think it's actually lightly engraved. You can remove it, but you'll probably want to use power tools and you'll have to completely refinish the blade.

I removed the ugly writting on the blade of a newer generation Spyderco Military, but it took forever. The laser engraving is deep and sanding down CPM 440V is no fun.
