Removing brass finger guard?

Perhaps this is the wrong section, if so....forgive me and please relocate the thread

Question is, how would I go about removing the brass guard on a new knife blank? I found several blanks I'd like to use. However, they all have guards and I don't want them on there.

With a hacksaw and a little patience. You're not afraid to get a little tired, are you? If it's on with more than a friction fit you can hammer or pry it off after sawing it in half.
