Hi,

Since I don't use the clip on my Buck Strider SBMF and it makes it even more bulky in my pants, i want to remove it.
Question is: How?
There are 3 some sort of screws in it like you can see in the picture below.
How do I remove them?

Second question, the grip of the Buck is a little bit to grippy for me, almost tears my pockets apart.
How can i make the grip less grippy?

Thanks!

Those type of screws are call torx head you can get them at places home improvement warehouses like Lowe's, Home Depot or Sears pretty much any where that sells tools. Just guessing I would say it is probably a #6 or #8 torx. Not sure about the handle scales I will let someone else advise you on them

The screws are torx as mentioned by Hunter s Tompson. The size is #6. As far as the grip is concerned if you look closely, each is shaped like a pyramid that meets at a point on the top. You can use a piece of 100 grit sandpaper or finer to remove this point. This will make it less aggressive on you pocket. As you sand the surface it will look a little lighter. Just wipe it with a cloth as this is just the dust from the material you are removing. Use care around the pivot screw so as not to leave scratches. So you are comfortable sand it in a small area to see if you are pleased with the results. You might decide to keep the clip in place as it will be more friendly to the top of your pocket. I have done this on my Buck Strider. Best of luck.

Few minutes with some 1200grit sandpaper will help

Guys,

Thanks for the awesome amount of info!
It really helps.

@ Ron, what do you mean by keeping the clip on for being it more friendly to my pocket?
I never use the clip if you where considering that.

the material is actually some sort of fiberglass reinforced nylon instead of g10, but i would still wear a dust mask of some sort

When the scales are rough and you draw the knife from the top of the pocket the pressure of the clip against the scales seems to wear away the pocket material. I find this also with a clip that is too tight. If you do not use the clip this is a non issue.
