removing coating from rc knives

i hear a good paint stripper works... i just like mine to wear off on its own. takes quite a while though. it'll rust if you don't take care of it, seems like most who strip the coating put on a forced patina of one kind or another.

Regular paint stripper should work fine.
I've used it to strip a bunch of Cold Steel Hawks, a couple of Beckers and more recently my Rat Izula.
Its a good idea to patina it too after it has been stripped, i usually use apple-cider vinegar but i've heard of people using all kinds of vinegar, mustard and vinegar-mustard combo's.

Supposedly paint stripper (non-environmentally friendly kind) and a razor blade will do the trick. Soak the stripped knife in apple vinegar overnight to put on a nice looking IMHO patina.

well the whole point of the coating is to protect the blade from rusting, 1095 is a great steel to use in a knife but it can rust, the coating helps to mitigate that. now some people use regular paint stripper to take it off and let the blade develop a nice patina, also with the coating off i imagine it would cut better through any given media, due to less friction.

Get a 3m scotchbrite pad and a 6 oz jug of gel stripper from tru value. paint it on, let it sit for 10 minutes and the stuff just rolls right off. I just stripped the stock on my new Ithaca 37 and it took about 10 minutes. For a lasting rust protectant I would either patina the blade with apple cider vinnegar, or coat it with wax.

Stupid question regarding the patina, what is apple cider vinegar? Is it a mixture of apple cider and vinegar? If so, how much of each should be used?
