Removing coating onterio marine raider bowie

I recently aquired an Onterio knife Company SP10 Marine Raider Bowie.
So far I am pleased with this knife for the price point.
However i do not like coated blades.
I removed the coating from my Esee lazerstrike and blued the blade and am happy with the result.
Has anyone removed the coating from their Onterio knife and how rough is the blade without the finish.? Will i need to smooth out before bluing?

I've noticed older SP's with the paint-like coating strip mutch easier than later versions. Earlier examples also have better finish beneath the coating in my experience.

Hello,

Looks good, much better than original. What's your method of removal?

Any gel paint remover and a credit card usually works. Steel wool or a cheap knife as a scraper if it's stubborn and your ok with a few scratches.

I've always had a bit of a thing for that knife, but never bit. Lookin' good.
