Removing discoloration from bone

I have a giraffe bone handled knife that has absorbed oil into the bone and discolored (darkened) the bone. Some of the bone is still light colored. Is there any way to leach the oil out of the bone to lighten it? Anyone had this problem? Any ideas would be appreciated.

you may want to bleach the bone with bleach or hydrogen peroxide than redo the whole the whole thing again to get the color you want
