Removing dye from Izula without removing coating?

My girlfriend's safety orange Izula got used in a hair dying job, it's got some purple stain on it. She got it orange for a reason so I don't wanna hurt the coating underneath...

So what solvent should I use to get the purple off? I figure some traditional paint thinner would work without touching the coating too much since it seems it takes a lot to strip them, but getting the coating completely off isn't the same and I do wonder if it would still mess up the coating.

What do the instructions on the hair dye recommend, for cleaning up stains? I'd look at that first.

In searching some internet 'advice' on removing hair dye stains, I'm seeing recommendations for using either chlorine bleach & water, or ammonia & water (for removing hair dye stains from clothing, anyway). These sites also warn it's more difficult to remove the stain after it's dried, however.

Okay. I kind of wish I knew what brand it was, I'll have to see if she kept the box around or anything like that.

Ammonia and bleach sounds like what they use to remove the dye from hair if I remember correctly... My mother would be rolling in her grave, she only ran a hair salon when I was a kid, I should know how to get out a hair dye stain.

I think I'm going to see where some 99% alcohol and some steel wool can get me before I try much else. I figure if anything the abrasive from the steel wool will at least expose a little bit of the coat that wasn't dyed and not leave it too rough or worn. It is a pretty light stain, you can still see the orange through it... Just a weird purple tint to it now. I think steel wool might do it.
