Hello all;
I’ve had a couple Buck Hunters engraved years ago, thinking I’d pass these onto relatives. I have no relatives that share my knife love. Is it possible to remove engraving without somehow damaging the blade ? The engravement is my name ~ file under what was I thinking …Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays everyone.
Best always,
Daniel T

Having your name on it might make the gift more meaningful, they won't forget who gave it to them 😂

The only way to "remove" engraving is to grind or sand down the steel to a level deeper than the engraving. The deeper the engraving, the more steel you need to remove.

Are they Buck folding hunters? If they are real Buck 110’s or 112’s. Buck will put new blades on them for $10

Try removing the engraving with sandpaper, if the engraving is fine, start with relatively fine grit. If it is deep then you have to go coarser then progressively finer. You don’t really have to remove all the metal, just knock down the edges of the letters and blend them in. They will never be perfect.
