Removing graphics from clip

I got a DPx HEAT not too long ago and love it with one exception: the the laughing skull graphic on its pocket clip. It's obviously not a big deal but I would prefer it gone. I tried nail polish remover and steel wool but barely even caused it to fade. Any suggestions?

IIRC you can order plain clips off the DPx site. I had a couple matte black cerokoted which came out well.

But for a silver one, I dunno other than from them. Or maybe a Lion Steel one may work too.

I have read in some posts that separate clips can be bought. Maybe it would be less of a headache to purchase a new clip.

CPP - tried to pm you but you've not enough posts yet I think. Anyway, I checked my box of stuff and I've an extra small black cerokoted one in plain matte finish. You're welcome to it if it'll help you out. Email with your addy and I'll send it out to you. Don't have any extra silver ones I'm afraid.

And welcome to the forums btw! :)

////Noticed it's for your Heat. I think it's the same clip as the Hest but not 100% sure, so if someone will verify.

You can bead blast it, satin finish it with sandpaper, scotchbrite it, a wire wheel...all should remove the finish. Also, paint stripper may do it as well.

So first I tried nail polish remover and steel wool, as I mentioned above, and neither did anything except fade the clip's black finish. Today I tried using a paint stripper followed by steel wool and then when that did nothing I used fine sand paper which further dulled the black finish more than it did the graphic! Good thing this is just an aesthetic issue...

Could probably just lightly blast the whole thing, and strip it down to silver. That'd likely be the easiest. :)

Agreed, if you want to get rid of the skull you can't keep the black finish. 220, 350, 400, 600, 800, and then maybe finish off with a thousand grit.
