Has anybody ever removed the thumbstuds from their Kershaw RAM? Because I find the ones on mine to be very annoying when trying to cut things, especially when slicing. And considering it' s a flipper knife and the thumbstuds are essentially useless also. So has anybody every done that? And what is the best method?

You mean the three raised "dots" on each side of the blade? I'd use a dremel and grind them down to a little nub, and then finish the work with increasingly finer grits of sandpaper so that you don't risk grinding a valley into the blade from using the dremel.

You should be able to just press them out. I had one RAM where the stud kept trying to come out on its own.

I suggest a large hammer and some blocks of wood (though this may be bad advice).

If you have a good set of pin punches and a bench block or a block of wood with holes in it, you should be able to knock them out.

I took mine out so I could polish the entire blade.

I know this is a crude diagram but you get the idea. (the blade is taped too) ;)
Only press out 1 pin at a time or you'll put too much pressure on the blade.

Ended up like this. Everything metal was polished.

Yeah, I started just now and was able to remove the middle one with my Leatherman Charge pliers, I' ll use the vice on the other two.

2Brothers has the right idea going on. The only thing that I'll add is instead of using a cutout piece of wood on one side of the blade you can use a small nut(as in nuts and bolts). Maybe the wood will be easier for you but I always have a ton of various nuts in the garage so I can usually always find one that will work. Give it a try and let us know if you have any questions.

The good thing about the vice method is that it doesn't hurn the thumbstuds or blade at all where as the pliers are a bit rough.
