Removing Leek's Blade Pivot Pin?

I've been trying to take the blade pivot pin off my Leek so I could tinker with the insides. However, it's LocTited on. I stick the Torx Tool in the one side, and the other side just spins. Is there a way to hold the other side still, or something that dissolves LocTite?

Try placing a piece of rubber(like bicycle inner tube) where the clip is attached.
Tighten the clip back down on top of the rubber. It's worked several times for me.
I've also used a small piece of a cut off wheel from a dremel in place of the rubber.
It worked well also.

SVRider3; didn't work :-( The rubber band that I used didn't stop the spinning at all. I don't have a Dremel to try the other method.

A piece of an emery file might work as well. If not, you could buy a small
pack of cut off wheels pretty cheap. Just break a small piece off the cut
off wheel and position it where the clip and pivot barrel meet, then tighten
it down snug but not to tight. It worked like a charm for me.

Another thing you can try in addition to the above is take the tip of
a soldering iron and place it on the pivot screw just long enough to get
it warm, then try backing the screw out. Try not to get it very hot, it could
heat the blade up as well. I wouldn't advise this with rubber material, you could
have a mess on your hands. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

another trick is to open the knife and press the sharpened edge down and put pressure on the cutting edge while unscrewing the pivot screw. this usually puts enough pressure on the pivot nut to keep it from rotating good luck

+1.

I had the same issue, emailed Kershaw customer service one evening, and the next morning, I got this response. Worked well for me!

Thanks tommie; it worked.

SVRider3; your technique works now that I've broken the LocTite seal :::thumbup:::

It's coming good. I removed the pocket lint, excess grease and lube, and wipred everything down. Polished the bronze washers to ease opening, and lubed everything up with Tuff Glide. Put it together and now it works even better than when it was new.
