I recently received a new blade and leather sheath. The sheath is very greasey/oilly and has a distinct smell. I am certain this is due to perservatives applied to the leather during the build process. I really like the sheath and intend to use it once I can remove some of the smell/feel. How or what is the best method to remove the greasey/oil feeling and smell from the sheath?

Just use it....and make sure to wipe the blade clean before you put it away for the night....outside of the sheath.
No different than that new anything smell, it will dissipate in time as it's exposed to air.
I'm guessing they applied a coat of oil on the blade before shipping to ward off any moisture.
