I have a couple case Solengen Germany Doctors knives that the blades have oxidized. How can I safely clean them?

Thanks For your help:)

Depending on how much oxidation is on the blades you can use sveral methods to see what works best. Let them soak with a little WD40 on the blades then rub down with some 0000 steel wool. You can try several of the better metal polishing compounds like Flitz. There is always the wet/dry sandpapers with the higer grits like 800 and upthat you can pick up at any automotive store. Clean them up and use them and good luck. You will probably get some better ideas that those above on this fourm.

Remove the rust first. Naval jelly. Somewhere on this forum is a thread about rust chelation using molasses and water.

Then polish.

I clean up my carbon steel kitchen knives with Barkeeper's Friend. You can find it in most supermarkets.

If you have access to a 6" or 8" grinder or a flex shaft or Dremel type tool, a muslim buffing wheel with white or green compound will do wonders in less than 30 seconds.

DON"T use anything chemical, other than Simichrome, Flitz, Mothers, MAAs.
Don't buff them. Naval Jelly will etch the crap out of them.
Use WD 40 and steel wool.
