Removing Paint from Stingray

I have stingray leather that appears to be painted...white in the middle on the larger raised nodes and black on all the rest of the nodes. I would like to remove the paint and bring the leather back to its natural color. Any ideas?

You have two options:

1. Forget about removing the paint and contact a purveyor and get a/some skins before they are colored or painted, a la natural color.

2. Forget about removing the paint and learn to love black and white. 99.9% of the sting ray available out there will have the little center "eyeball" colored white. It is possible to find them without the "eyeball" or whatever that thing is called.

This post is not intended to sound smart ass.....it just happened:D;)

Edited to add: If someone does know how to decolor sting ray without degrading the skin, I would love to learn something new as well.

Thanks for the info, I've been lightly scrubbing the white off, but the black seems completely impervious to anything.
