Removing Paramilitary 2 handles?

Any advice on taking them off? The spacer for the lanyard hole is where I get stuck. I feel like I would damage the handles and/or the barrel spacer if I just pull it off. Anybody have any tips on removing them with minimal damage?

Pivot the scales around the tube while gently pulling up

Like rycen said, pivot them around a few (or more times) and you should be able to gently work at least one side off. Often I am left with the tube really wedged in the other side though. I use a wide punch wrapped in tape or something similar like a wood dowel rod. Insert it into the inside side of the tube and then use it to work the tube back and forth to wedge it out.

Shouldn't be too hard to reassemble but there's a chance that you could get some rattle from the lanyard tube after.

Hm... Might have to leave this alone. If I do replace them I will let you all know how it turns out. Thanks for the help!

Usually much easier to put back on. You could lightly oil them if you need to which should help.

I've not had any rattle on the five I've done but it could happen. If so, you could use a punch that tapers to a little wider diameter than the tube. Wrap it with some tape, insert into the tube, then tap a bit to re-flare it.

So here's where I'm at. I was taking the knives apart when I realized instead of removing the scales I could just swap out the blades! Seemed like a good idea at the time anyway. The black handle one is brand new and with the satin blade fits and works fine. However, the digi camo is my EDC and with the black blade in having issues. It fits and everything but when I tighten the screws it doesn't swing freely. Very stiff and almost immovable. I am trying to lube up the pivot area but no results. Any thoughts as to what's going on and how to fix this?( besides switching them back of course) very frustrated.

Hmmmm. I'm not entirely sure how the lock face is cut on the blade, or how the lock is cut, but I had a similar incident. I bought two Para's off of ______ and both had vertical play. Swapped the blades and now they're both solid... one was stiff; it just needed breaking in now its good.

I just switched them back. Figure i will buy the digi camo black blade. I guess the knives are a little bit different because they work fine on their original parts, but when the blades are switched the black handled one works fine but the digi camo with the black blade sticks. I tried cleaning it, lubing it but as soon as I screw the other side in it gets stiff. Working it back and forth does nothing to improve it. Now that I have them to their original parts they both work fine. With the exception of the black handle & blade para2 having a little bit of wiggle side to side regardless of how tight the screws are.

Sounds like a similar issue. Glad yours worked out okay for you. I guess this wasn't a total waste of my time since I got to really know this knife. Maybe I could find someone to switch parts with. Lol

I wouldn't switch blade on these, the lock is fit to the blade when manufactured so I would keep the liners and blade together.

I have switched blades like that before with other lock type like Axis locks and it worked fine for me. But I wouldn't do it on frame locks, liner locks, etc.

I've found that a 1/4" dowel or steel pin will help you push the lanyard tube out of the second scale after you twist it out of the first one. I use an arbor press to get a gentle, completely vertical push. You could chuck the dowel/pin in a drill press and do the same thing. Works like a charm - and they go back on much easier than they take apart!

Look at the hole where the pivot goes through. On one of mine it had a nasty burr that wasn't cleaned up in assembly. I used my dremel with a soft grinding bit to remove the burr and everything became silky smooth after that.

I noticed that the camo handles could easily be removed. I figure it was because I messed with it a lot. The black handles however will not budge. I'm still going to wait. I saw that the para 2 in satin is being offered so I imagine the black blades will be next. If I miss my chance then these suckers are coming off.

There's no way. The two I had, had equal amounts of vertical play. Swapped the blades and they were good to go.

You have to be careful replacing the pivot barrel in the Para2. One side has a flat spot (a "D" connector) that needs to be lined up in the correct orientation in the correct hole of the correct liner. In other words, there is only ONE CORRECT WAY to reinstall a Para2 pivot. I know you guys know this, but I've seen folks get a bad fit during their reassembly - which can lead to the blade binding.

You can kind of see the D-connector on far side of the pivot below...

I had the same issue. The burr was on the flattened edge of the pivot hole in the liner opposite the lock, and opposite the side my blade leaned too. Looked like a punch was used the make the hole and it spun or got stuck on extraction and pulled the burr up with it. It was slightly digging into the bronze washer slowing the action and surely throwing it off- center a bit. I cleaned up the burr on the flat side of the liner and cleaned up the washers with a fine ceramic stone. It works beyond belief now. Its amazing how freely it rotates with the lock depressed. It swings like a pendulum when I press the lock to drop close it. No blade play and blade sits dead center. Took me a while to find the sweet spot though. I dug out loctite a couple times before perfecting it. I've only had it 3 weeks now and it feels like an extension of my own hand. Like its always been there. I love it. I still find myself worrying if this will mess up in the future and that I should have sent it in before voiding my warranty. Partly because I couldn't completely straighten the edge on the inner part because I was afraid of the inside diameter of the hole getting too large. For now it works like a charm
