Removing pm2 screws

I ordered new scales for my pm2 and hardware.

I can get one side of the screws off except one, they aren't stripped, but they just rotate. I feel like I need to clamp down on the stop tube so it can screws out but feel like it would damage the tube. I must be doing something wrong.

Is there a trick to getting the screws out?

Yeah, the PM2/Yo2 are a pain. I either use a needle nose pliers or a screwdriver on the other side to hold position, depending on the situation.

Tried it both ways and either one comes out then the other doesn't.

I'm have to clamp down somehow without damaging the tube.
Pliers and a soft paper towel is how i did mine. It is possible to crush the tube so be careful.

Finally got it. Used pliers and rubber band to clamp down and got the screws off. This was one tough cookie haha!

But now the lanyard tube won't budge. Lol
Lanyard tube is another animal entirely....full disclosure I really jacked up the lanyard tube on my Manix 2 trying to get it apart the first time. The good news is the blade is now riding in the (fantastic) liner delete AWT textured and contoured Aluminum scales which doesn't utilize a lanyard tube.
If i were to do it over again, i would try and pound out the lanyard tube from the scale side using something soft (nylod rod, wood dowel, or something similar that won't mishape the metal) and a mallet.

what i wound up doing was twist and pull with pliers and that turned out rather poorly

I tried shoving needlenose pliers wrapped in paper towel and pounding it on the ground, didn't work well.
I used pliers and wrapped the lanyard tube and rocked it back and forth and finally popped out.

Now starting on the blade mirror polish, it's going to take a while.
Edge is sharpened up to 5000 grit, nice and sharp.

Fantastic glad you got it out with minimal hassle! Not sure if they are press fitting them into the liners or what but they can be a real bear to get out of there

The thought of giving up did cross my mind 😅
I was afraid I was going to strip the screws and bend the support tube and lanyard tube.
God's name was used dozens of times.
