Does anyone know a way to remove light rust spots from a bead blast finish without removing the finish? Any help would appreciative.

Thanks,
Drac Noroc

A while ago, I found a SOG double edge knife at a yard sale. It had a bead blast finish. It was with some saltwater fishing gear and it was a mess! At that time I didn't have a bead blast cabinet. If I did, I would have just re-blasted it. I bought some Navel Jelly and after several applications, it cleaned the rust spots right off! I wound up doing the whole blade because where the Jelly had been was much cleaner than the rest of the blade!!
If you try this, don't leave the Jelly on very long until you see how it is working.

I've had good luck with using Puma Metal Polish, I think I've used Flitz as well, I like to Puma Polish better. I did this with a friends Emerson CQC7. Just rub the polish into the blade with your finger for a while then wipe of with a clean cotton cloth, gun cleaning patches work pretty well for me. If the rust is bad it made require a few rubbings. This puts a protective coating on afterwards but I usally put a coating of Sentry Soulutions Tuf-Cloth on for good measure. I've done this to a few knives and not had a problem with removing the finish.

Take care,
Tom
