How do you remove rust from infi (or sr-101)?

I've got a couple safe queens that have a light amount of rust, and I want to get the rust off without scratching up the satin (one is double cut). Its not bad, just light spotting.

They were left at my folk's house for a while and my moisture control thing went bad before I could get to them.

So how would you remove rust without scratching up the finish?

If it's light rust, try clean rag and a light oil. Keep them blades oiled ..... I've got swords in long term storage and I've covered the blades in car wax.

Metal polish such as Mother's Aluminum and Mag , Flitz , or Simichrome will work.
To prevent rust oil the blades and check them every few months.

I do need to start oiling them for storage. I always think I'll be able to check on and clean them regularly but thats not always the case.

If it is satin, medium grit scotch-brite pads rubbed in the direction of the finish scratch pattern should work without damaging finish. You can also use toothpaste on a rag, this is probably the least aggressive method and will not damage finish.
