Removing scale dye

I have custom micarta scales on a Zero Tolerance 0393. They were displayed with a band of black and a band of red, very nice. They arrived all black, with a slight reddish hint, rather ugly. Is there a way of bleaching out the black so I can dye them another color, without damaging or degrading the micarta? Thanks.

Micarta? I doubt it. The color is part of the epoxy or the material used to make it; paper; canvas; burlap; horse poo, or whatever. .

Nonsense.
Why would you think that nonsense? Why did you ask, then?
Micarta is made of various colored materials. You may be able to bleach a very thin section of the top layer, but the color runs throughout the Micarta. There are layers of colored material compressed and saturated with phenolic resin.
