Anyone try removing the scales from a Kershaw Scallion? I want to remove the scales to have them beadblasted, but don't like removing the main the hinge for the blade if possible. Will it be possible, or do I have to do it to get the scales off?

Thanks.

I've taken apart alot of Kershaws to clean and fix up. So easy a caveman can do it. :) You'll probably have to take it out, but once you open it you'll see it's pretty simple.

Just make sure the blade is open when you take it apart, so there's no tension on the torsion bar.

I just took the scales off a scallion yesterday, strange coincidence. Its definitely easy. At least on a liner lock scallion. I'm assuming there's a frame lock version which might be trickier.

How did you know I still drag my knuckles? (ooh, new Avatar coming soon....) BTW, I think the cave man might be better equipped to do things mechanically than me.....:grumpy:

Is it hard to reset the Torsion bar?

Seriously, it's really easy. If you want to trade stories, I was once asked by a friend doing a home remodel, not to come back and help anymore. :( But this, I can do. :)

All of my Kershaws are really easy to put back together. I'm pretty mechanically inept, so you should be good to go

Actually, come to think of it, I had a hell of a time with the pillared Blur, but since the Scallion doesn't have pillared construction, no worries :D
