Removing scales from Manix 2 lightweight?

Is it possible to remove the scales from the Manix 2 lightweight? I bought some carbon fiber scales off of a regular Manix 2, and I would like to instal them on my lightweight Manix.

Any help is appreciated!

Different animal totally. Regular one is steel lined and those scales are made to attach to that. The lightweight is linerless and the specs are all different.

The lightweight M2 doesn't disassemble- even the newer version with the torx pivot, you can't even remove the blade.

It's true. I tried to drill out the pins to install barrel spacers. I don't recommend it.

Do you have pics? I would like to see. I thought about doing something similar.

Is the backspacer that acts as a blade stop do the pins travel thru that? So it's smooth?

The back spacer is just a back spacer, and if you try to drill the rivets they will just spin.
I can't think of any way to get them to stay stationary while you drill them, since there's no way to grip the other side. Honestly, it's just better not to attempt any mods on that knife. I couldn't even replace the ball bearing when I tried to get at the lock.
I hate rivets.

Ok, looks like I won't be replacing the scales. Now, a question--get rid of the scales, or get rid of the knife/buy the regular manix? Basically, should I have a stock Manix 2 lightweight, or a carbon fiber standard Manix 2?

drilling out the pins would be hard but an 1/8" end mill would cut the head off the pin and allow for the pins to be pressed out.
if i ever get a manix 2 lightweight in for sharpening, i'll have to take a closer look at it.

they immediately started spinning. The bit won't have time to cut before it starts to spin unless you come at it horizontally in a proper mill.

since you are going to replace the scales, you can superglue the other side to keep the pin from spinning and take light cuts. do you still have the one you mentioned? i can send you an 1/8" carbide end mill to try when i send you the blank.

I obliterated that one, richard. lol. It's in pieces in an envelope I'm going to mail to my dad. He wants to try to make me some Ti handles for it.
