Removing Scratches from blade...

Hi all

I have a Colt pathfinder

As above, it was my first knife and I keep it for sentimental reasons...:rolleyes:

What I am asking is the sheath scratched and marked the blade, as I collect not use my knives at the mo, how can I remove or clean the blade without ruining it further, someone mentioned staybrite pads and wd 40 does this work? and what are staybrite pads :D

Can you maybe post some pics of the scratches?

Not all scratches are created equal, and that determines how you go about removing or blending them.
 
I also have some scratches on a blade i recently modded (dremel slip up) I'll post pics later today, i would really like to get rid of them
 
Hey Arclightuk,

I took some subtle scratches out of a blade today with a 500 grit scotchbrite pad, sanding in the direction of the grain on the blade, then going over with a 700 grit in the same direction.
