Anyone ever done it? Got a good deal (free) on a full spider edge endura but I want plain. Thinking I might use a grinder to remove most then straighten it up with my grayco. I know to not overheat the steel. Anyone ever done anything like this have tips or tricks?

That would remove a lot of blade. Doing so would make the edge really thick, and might even make the tip exposed when closed.

either put it for trade, or sell it and put the money toward a plain edge one. Don't ruin a good knife.

Gotcha. Thanks. I'll either keep it or trade it off later if something of interest shows up. Wouldn't mind a ffg endura or delicate..

I bought a Spyderco Caly Jr. for cheap that someone had done this to. It certainly removed a lot of steel and fundamentally changed the blade geometry. It was definitely thicker behind the edge - and the previous owner tried to compensate by sharpening it with a lopsided convex grind. It is sharp, but a real PITA to maintain.

Keep in mind also that the serrated knives are chisel grind, which means that the bevel is on one side only. The other side is flat. This will probably force you to leave it as a modified chisel grind after removing the serrations. This might not be your cup of tea...

I second the motion of selling it and buying a plain Endura.

Unless you're willing to regrind the knife, as the others stated, your geometry will be FUBAR unless you re-grind the knife.

Took me years of sharpening to remove the serrations on my EDC, so I too would suggest trading or selling the knife unless you want the experience of grinding a blade.

You got it for free, give it a shot! :) If it's too thick behind the edge, you can thin out the whole blade a little. I would be careful using a grinder though, that high of a material removal rate can quickly lead to catastrophe if you make any mistakes. I guess I'm the minority here, but I think the experimental value is worth more than you could get out of selling it.
