Removing slight rust.

I bought a cheap Spyderco Ambitious to take with me on a trip to Florida, I used it to cut fish and shrimp into bait in saltwater. I guess I didn't wipe it down enough because it has developed some very light rust on the blade, and spots on the liners. I was thinking of breaking it down, scrubbing everything down with a scotch Brite pad, oiling and reassembling. I don't care what it looks like after, it's certainly no safe queen. Any flaws in my plan before I get started?

No flaws. For me, I'd apply lots of dish soap during the scrubbing (I like scotch brite green weenies) and lots of oil during the reassembly. The key for me is to make sure I got rid of all the shrimp, fish and guts parts. I like using some CLP or the like on the assembly, followed by a good rub down with sentry marine Tuff cloth, but as long as you use something, the results will be acceptable in my opinion.
