My friend has the mentioned knife, and I know there's a screw at the pommel. Is it possible that the handle be removed after unscrewing it and taking the pommel and then handle off and send it off to BodyCote?
I'm just curious because I somehow wanted to know about fixed blades recently ;)

Hi Calyth,

Sorry, but even though there is a screw on the pummel of the Government, it is glued into place. You will be very disappointed if you try to get it off. I've yet to see one successfully come off without damaging the knife.

I understand the primal concept: See screw ... must turn! :D

Aw damn.... cause I also have a primal urge: see fixed blade, must BodyCote! LOL :D

My BG42 Field Knife should be back soon...:D
Once it is, I will make the Cocobolo handles...

I saw the Recondo (sp) in BG42, It's a sweet piece. Wish they have something other than a tanto... I hate sharpening americanized tanto.

btw, hands off my Governemnt!!! I did not say you could treat it!
But anyways, if I really wanted to, I could see how much it would cost just to get a government that does not have the handle glued on yet so I can treat it.

Hey Ron, does sog sell knives that have not been fully completed so that they can be treated? And if you do, how much? Would u send the handle with it for later private asssembly?

I'm not going to take yours to do it. It looks like a good stainless bowie though, that's why I'm interested.
