I have a well used Victorinox classic with Sterling silver scales that I have carried for a long time. The scales appear to be formed (stamped ) from sheet to fil closely around the frame. It is not riveted so I assume they are glued or epoxyed on (or possibly soldered?)
It's about time to retire this knife and I would like to remove the scales if possible and put them on a new SAK Classic. Removing the plastic scales is no problem but has anyone ever removed this type of metal scale from a SAK without damaging them. If I can get them off I will epoxy them onto a new Classic. If I can't remove them without damage I will leave them alone and keep carrying it.
