Removing surface scratches from blade?

Hi all, I was after any advice on methods, grits of paper etc to remove light surface scratches from a new Schrade 150T blade.

There's only a couple on the blade, but I notice them each time and wouldn't mind getting rid of them just for looks.

I have access to a bench polisher/buffer, but I imagine anything done on this later would be with very fine compounds and very little pressure?

Just thought before I attempted anything at all and risked adding to the problem, I would consult the forums for ideas..

Thanks for any feedback.

go to walmart and go to the automotive section. they have automotive sand paper. start at 400 maybe then go through the grits all of them 1500 to 2000 if you want a mirror finish.lost of work but well wourth it

Unless you're not going to use your knife, my advice would be to get used to a scratched blade and use your time, energy, and money to do something more enjoyable.

Depending on how "light" they are, you could try using Flitz and 0000 steel wool. And a lot of elbow grease. ;)

What he said

If you do decide to polish off the scratches , be sure to use caution ! , I've cut myself nicely more than once doing the same on finishing kit knives.
Also if you do use sandpapaer , emery cloth whatever , be prepared for a possible big time re-sharpening.

A piece of old cotten t-shirt, bit of water, and some bicarbondate of soda (Arm and Hammer baking soda) makes a really fine grained polishing compound. Might give it a try. Also it's cheap.
