Removing the assist from a Kershaw RJ-1

Can it be done? I've heard some people say that removing the spring will screw up a few Kershaws, but how about the RJ-1? I'm pretty sure removing it will be self explanatory, but any help is welcomed. Thanks in advance.

I just went and found mine. It has a detent ball so should work. I see this question a lot and don't understand why people bother asking when they could just remove the assist and see if it works, if it doesn't just put it back in. Would be faster than waiting for a reply.

My RJ-1 has a detent ball, but no detent hole so removing the assist spring would be a no-no unless you have a way to put a detent hole in the blade. The Cryo also has this issue.
