I'd thought about doing this for a while but I didn't want to send my knife off to CRK and wait several months for it to return. I was also afraid of using any harsh compounds because I didn't want to damage the stonewash finish on my CRK blade. Yesterday, I decided screw it I'll give it a try and I was very happy with the results I got.

All I did was take some simple bar keepers friend and a wet paper towel to gently remove the blue ano. I would use just a dap of bar keepers friend on the wet paper towl and pinch the thumb stud with my thumb and index finger and twist until the blue was gone.

If you look at one of the thumb studs in the correct light at the correct angle closely you can see a very slight discoloration on the stonewash but it's not noticable without studying the knife.

Anyways, I'm sure I'm not the only one whos considered doing this before so I thought I would share my results20231017_072455.jpg20231017_073124.jpg20231017_073140.jpg20231017_073713.jpg20231017_080755.jpg20231017_080805.jpg

Might work if a fella used a small piece of thin tin, drilled the right sized hole, and held the tin in place at the bottom of the stud while polishing. That's a trick I use to protect the handle of my Glocks when undercutting the trigger guard with a dremel tool.
