Removing the "distressed' look off of the new copper Investigators

I got one of the new "distressed" copper Investigator pens that were just released, and after having it for awhile it just doesn't look like my other copper items. It almost looks a little pink-ish. I was wondering if anyone knows if the distressed look is removable with some kind of chemical or cleaner?

Or will it take longer for this pen to get a more natural patina since it looks like it was treated with some chemical already?

Thanks.

You know what, nevermind. I'll just leave the patina on there; it's already growing on me. I have a different question...

How do I stop the cap and the impact tip on my Investigator from unscrewing? They unscrew very easily and I don't want to risk losing a part of my pen.

EDIT: I looked in the bag the pen came in and I found an o-ring. I put it on the front of the pen where the cap attaches. That solves that problem; now I just need to get one for the other end of the pen. But I still need the impact tip to stop unscrewing on me.

Try a minimal amount of teflon tape on the threads. I would not suggest Loctite as you will need to remove that tip at some point to change the ink cartridge.

Purchase more o-rings.

That's what I plan on doing. I read somewhere that they are #36 o-rings (or 3/16"), and I found some glow o-rings on Lighthound.

I'll try that. Thanks.

Genius!! My Investigators AP tip kept coming completely loose in my pockets & my ink & spring would fall out.
I put a dab of purple loc tite but Teflon tape sounds like a much better alternative.
Thanks

Perhaps these pens need redesigned if they are coming apart in pockets.

Surprising to say the least.

I have three investigator pens and one extreme duty that I use on a daily basis, each of my three Sons have and use investigator pens.
NONE have come undone or unscrewed themselves.
In most (if not ALL cases) it is operator error - Not installing the included o-ring (part of the design) OR simply not paying ttention to normal maintenance. ANY tool to include a pen requires a modicum of attention i.e. snug that which can become unsnug. Do you periodically check the lug nuts on your car if it has aluminum wheels? If they require retightening does the manufacturer then need to redesign the wheel? I don't think so.

You have never had a lid come off a pen unintentionally? Hinderer Knives provides an o-ring for the cap end to help keep it in place. The user needs to be able to tighten the accessory end to keep it in place, it really isn't a design flaw, it has approximately 4 1/2 revolutions of thread engagement. Until Hinderer Knives is able to remove and reinstall your cap for you every time you need to use your pen, the user will have to take some ownership to do it themselves.
