Removing the knife blade from your multi-tool ?

Long time lurker, first time poster is curious if anyone's tried to do this.

Now, in case anyone's tempted to knife-knut knee-jerk into "Don't pander to the sheeple" mode, be advised that I EDC a Spyderco Police; definately not the most friendly looking blade out there.

I ask because I'm looking into getting a Gerber Diesel, to go with the Spydie Paramilitary I just ordered (both in black, of course  ). Since I'd generally be carrying the para, there's no need for the blade on my tool, and I'd prefer to lose both the blade and saw so I could go completely "weapon"-less () if necessary, leaving the knife at home but keeping the multi-tool.

Each one is on a different half of the handle, so there wouldn't be too large of a gap in either side.

Should I just grind/saw through either blade at the base/"tang" ? Or is there a way to disassemble the tool ?

I'd appreciate your thoughts and suggestions.

Not sure how the newer gerber multi tools are, but i remember with mine you could remove the screw that holds all the tools in. If this can be done with your diesel you can just remove that, take out the tools you want and replace them with spacers so you can always pop 'em back in if needed. LIke I said though, not sure if this applies to the diesel. Good luck to you.

i removed the blade from a generic multitool a few yrs ago when my son was younger so he could carry it and not get into any trouble with it.

i just unscrewed the thing and slipped it out, ya wanna be carefull though and not let them all fall out and get mixed up (ie the washers) or they are hard to get back together again working right (dont ask how i know that lol)
