Removing the Lahar thumstud?

I just got my latest K-fix, a pair of Lahars. It nicely fills the gap next the JYDII (not to mention others).

After looking at the custom version, with no thumbstud, I was thinking of removing it from mine. That would leave a hole for some kind of cool filler. Has anyone done something similar? If so what diameter is the hole, and what did you put in place of the stud?

If you know any jewelers or metal smiths you might be able to have it filled with a malleable metal then you could have it stamped with an initial or a small logo like an Allen Elishewitz custom.
