I have not tried it but how about a soda blaster? I have personally watched it take the paint off of an aluminum soda can without damaging the aluminum. I'm not sure it is coarse enough to get through the coating?
I'll try anything. Hopefully I could just buy some sort of thinner. I talked with some powdercoat painters at work and they said that teflon coating probably won't come off with any type of liquid remover.
If it's anything like the teflon coating on the new (and older) Recon knives, you can just work it off with a jewelers panhead screwdriver. That's how I did both of mine and they have no scratches as a result. Test in a small area first.
i used acetone to get most of it off. It probably would have gotten it all if I had any patience. I then sanded it down with different grit papers untill i got to 1500 grit untill all the scratches were removed. Polished it up to a mirror finish and she still looks good. Hell of a lot of work though...
