Removing thumbstud on new Benchmade Mini Adamas

So, I'm trying to remove the thumb studs on my Benchmade Mini Adamas so that I can mount a Snaggletooth wave opener on it, and this thing keeps destroying my T6 torx bits.

Has anyone had any success in removing or modifying the Mini Adamas? It seems like they either set the screws with red loctite, or got Captain America to hand-tighten these suckers down.

I didn't like the stock thumb studs on mine, so I replaced them with the ones from my old 940. Had no issues removing them

Seriously? The thumb studs on mine are fastened on like nuclear launch codes are hidden inside them. I broke THREE T6 torx bits today trying to remove them.

I’ve always stripped the female side rather than the bits on thumb studs. Try heating the studs with a soldering iron first and use Wiha or similar quality bits. Should work if it’s just too much or red loktite.

I was working the female side.

Snaggletooth provides you with a plastic tube that you slip over the LHS thumb stud to hold it in place. Then you're supposed to work the RHS stud. Both my Benchmade Bluebox T6 and my Husky T6 bits were destroyed by this thing, never seen anything like it.

I wrote an email to Benchmade asking them about it.

Dimes to dollars heat is the solution. Next attempt, pop in freezer for a spell after applying heat directly to torx head. Locktite brand calls out temperatures and modern soldering guns call out temps. As others have said Wiha or similar works for us, steer clear of lesser tools.

You can use boiling water to soften that locktite. Dip the blade in the hot water up to the thumb stud. Its not going to hurt anything. Use two torx drivers

...and the hot water trick didn't work. I dipped the thumb stud in boiling water for a minute, made sure the whole thing got nice and hot, and it STILL snapped my T6.

Any other ideas? I'm about to send this thing back to Benchmade and let them break all their tools trying to fix this thing lol.

Update:

So by using the freezing trick and a Wiha T6 bit, I finally managed to get the factory stud off and mount the Snaggletooth:

Sadly, the Wiha bit was still a casualty, the threads on it are partly twisted.

Thanks to everyone who posted suggestions, it worked.
