Removing WWIII bluing!

I've decided to remove the bluing from my WWIII. I love the sight of naked polished steel and the finish is only going to get scratched up as soon as I start chopping logs (just moved into a house with a fireplace).

So far it's been a collection piece, but I want to use it now and like this idea. Any advice on how to best do it (the only machinery I have is a hand held drill by the way).

Any other WWIII tales?
