Removing 'Zaan thumb lugs?

Anyone have any tips on safely removing the thumb lugs on the Umnumzaan? Probably going to satin finish the blade if I can remove the lugs without damaging them.

Careful....they are a pressed fit and not meant to be removed.....CRK also did a revision on the early models.
 
I think you could satin finish the grind and leave the flats stonewashed.
This would allow for the studs to remain on during the process.
I personally think this would look much better.

At this time CRK will do no modification on Umnunzaan's, I already called to have my blade & handles polished & Heather said they are not doing anything on that knife at this time.

If you're going to make the effort why not go mirror polish for the entire blade? That'd look way sexy, and make a nicer contrast to the handle than just going satin on the blade. You'll need new studs I reckon as you won't be able to un-f*ck the ones you take out of your knife afterwards. You could send it in for new ones though.
