Ren wax - just an observation

Ren wax smells an awful lot like neutral shoe polish. I wonder if...
Both have a preservative trait. Both are a wax per se...

don't know if there close or not, but I use shoe polish in my wax hot dip mix and have used it on blades befor with no problems.
