For the Ren wax, does it go on the busse handles (micarta, I believe) as well, or just the blade?

And if no Ren wax on the handles, what can you do to preserve them for long term storage?

and does tufcloth affect the coating on blades (black and gray coating on my knives)?

Micarta is a very stable material and does not need anything to "preserve" it.

Ren Wax will not harm it but it is certainly not needed.

As said, micarta requires no preservation. Unless you leave it in a mold and mildew infested closet, in which case they "might" need a bit of scrubbing later, but that would be the extent of it. Some folks do like the appearance of micarta when it's been oiled or waxed, go ahead and do it since it won't hurt anything, you can always remove it later with a good scrubbing in hot soapy water.
