Guys,

How often do you use it on high carbon blades? I have some Marble knives and want to protect them.

thanks

i used to use it every couple of months, then i learned that a thin coat of mineral oil seems to do the job for alot less money:D
Renwax is good but it isnt necessary, i believe any wax as long as it isnt terribly abrasive would/could do the trick.
Ya might try the oil though, just a thin layer and check them every so often, if you do get a little light rust you can use 000 steel wool and wd-40 or mineral oil to lightly buff it off.
Old carbon steel will patina, its just natural:)
best of luck to ya

I use Ren. Wax on my swords and antiques to prevent rusting during long-term storage without looking all funky. It works great for that purpose, but would be expensive to use regularly--as mentioned above, just use mineral oil for an often-used blade. For storage and preservation purposes it's hard to do better than Ren. Wax--it's what it was designed for! :)

I use Ren Wax on all my knives, even the cheapies. I also use it on my firearms and ammo magazines. One can of RenWax has lasted me for 4+ years and I still have 1/2 of it left. So I don't think it is expensive, but do I think that Johnson's paste wax or any good quality car wax would work as well.

Wax will stay where you put it and protect metal for a long long time. This has been an old trick for shotgunners to protect blued steel shotguns while out in the hides.

It's a bit of an investment for a can, but when they say a little goes a long way, they mean it. One dab on a paper towel can usually coat a whole sword for me. Like CWL, my jar is about...6 years old!!! and it's only a third empty!

Johnson's Paste Wax ( furniture polish) is a cheaper alternative.
It's all just carnauba.
Remove the old wax with lighter fluid prior to re-waxing.
