All the threads we have devoted to help. Must be a shock to a newcomer to arrive and find not only Khukuris, but heart strings going deep and every which way.

Yup...Bill uses the knives to draw in the needy and the givers. Sort of a spiritual AA.

I never understood the movement to limit discussion just to knives.

It would be just another knife forum. Knife forums are fine; there are many of them. Just think, HI forum could have been just one of many.

Rusty has his hands full just dealing with us now. Think how many meds he'd be on if he had to not only keep us in line, but keep us on topic:D This is such a nice place. Great guys with big hearts that really do care about one another. A great place where trust, honor, and a handshake actually mean something. It's a rare thing these days.

Ain't no threads drifting around here.

They change directions like a Cigarette boat with a 6-71 blown hemi engine veering back and forth to lose the revenuers on their tail!

I gotta admit, this is definately the best forum I've ever joined. The others are sterile, talking about new "tactical" super-killer knives. All that trendy BS. This place has a great aura. It's like a bunch of like-minded PEOPLE instead of simple inquiries and answers. Really cool stuff.

I've got to get one of those prayer wheels that are wind powered...

So getting back on topic....what is the best steel for prayers these days? Would you suggest a stainless steel, or something in high carbon? :D

The Cantina is good community, we like our knives, but we are not so obsessed as to forget those who make them, or those who enjoy them. That is a sound perspective to have.

Well, these knives ARE special.
We have, in Himalayan Imports, a kind of time machine where we are allowed to travel back in time to a place that, in many aspects, is pre-industrial.
People live the way we used to live three hundred years ago.
We are forced, by our relationship with these men, to consider the reality of their lives, which is so very very different from our own.
And yet, when it comes to good knives, our eyes are the same.
It's like walking into an antique shop and finding not just antiques, but the original people who made them still in business and taking custom orders.

There are some damn nice people in here. (Since Don and Pappy left us, two less) But we get some new people in from time to time. (sometimes not so new people with new names)
The cantina has become a part of my quotidian existence.
If I dont check in with my bros once a day, I just dont feel right.

Welcome namaarie,

I'm relatively new myself here but agree with your statement. This place is filled with good people who have giant hearts. I think you'll like it here. I know I do. :D

Pretty cool feeling indeed. I literally sent smoke to all parties here who needed it recently. Nice to know there are good people like all of us out there. :)
