Hello gentlemen,
I've been looking at Renaud Aubry knives lately and thought about getting a Navette. I've seen an example in stag on YouTube that is just gorgeous. Google search hasn't resulted in a lot of examples with stag covers though and what came up was rather poor ...

Do any of you have experience with Renaud Aubry's stag? Should I rather play it safe and go with horn covers or risk the stag?

Thanks,

Žan

No direct experience of his Stag no, but a lot of Stag in Europe is from Red Deer (rather similar to American Elk) rather than Sambar Stag. Consequently, it looks less textured and exciting and tends to be more pithy.

If you want to know about Ram's Horn or other scales, I'm sure Jolipapa Jolipapa will shed light on it -as I gave him a Navette some time ago ;)

Thank you Will and Jolipapa. I don't have much experience with French knives, so I rather ask to not mess up anything. Like you suggest, Jolipapa, I will contact the maker to see what he has to say. :) I'm in luck that the site is in English. Although I study and speak several languages, I get quite anxious when confronted with French ...:D
