Rendering of the Nomad Flipper and info on release date

As I mentioned in another post, the Nomad needed to be a flipper. So, now it is! Also, it will be tip up and I changed some of the grooves around the edge for a better look. I like all three of the knives, Rogue, Escort and Nomad ofr different reasons. However, I think the Nomad has moved to my favorite.

All three of the knives will be released at the same time. Mid January, just before or at Shot Show.

Honestly, I haven't had this much fun watching a knife company grow in I can't remember how long. Blade Magazine needs to create a new award category for most new models introduced in a calendar year. If they did that, Kizer would win the award running away.
 
Nomad is looking even better!

I think Kizer has been around for about two years and in that time released about 100 models. The first I heard about Kizer was Summer 2013.

In 2014 & YTD 2015 Spyderco has released nearly 120 models and that does not include the Byrd line.

Wow! Well I guess Kizer has done a better job of marketing their new releases because they sure seem to pop up more often than Spyderco's new releases do. Could just be a perception issue on my part. Then there's a preference issue as well. As much as I like Spydercos, they tend to be wider than I prefer due to having to incorporate the Spyderhole. And there's also the whole MAP issue which we don't need to get into here. Suffice it to say that any knife manufacturer who incorporates MAP pricing is off my list unless I buy their knives on the secondary market. So sayonara, Spyderco. And hello, Kizer! :)

Man, you're killing me! Any hints as to the price point? I want to make sure I have the money saved up.
 
Nomad will retail at $256.00. Mid January is coming up fast! I am really looking forward to the release!
 
That looks awesome!

Any chance to change the shape of the attachment point for the clip so that it sits a little higher up on the flat portion of the handle? As it sits now, there's going to be a huge amount of knife sticking up from the pocket.

Is there a lanyard pin in the knife? If not, is there room to include one or add a hole?
 
I am working on improving the clip. I wanted to get the tip up set up completed so the Nomad could get underway for a January release. I want to give a tip up or tip down option with the same clip. That is the challenge with this knife. I have a couple of ideas to develop. Thankfully, I have a bit of time to work on it.

Lanyard pin is doable as is a lanyard hole or slot. I have not received a lot of input on that. If that is what is wanted, it can easily be added on the next run.
 
Glad you're giving this model your time and attention! Do you make custom knives as well, or simply design them?
 
I am quite invested in the designs I license to companies now-a-days. I learned a valuable lesson after my first experience. I want to make sure what is being made with my name on it is as correct as possible. I will be releasing 3-4 folders for 2016. The Nomad will not be part of my first custom release. If things go to plan, the custom Nomad will be in the second half of 2016.

Yes, this looks good.

I am interested in it and will put it on my 2016 knives list to consider.

Not coming up fast enough :D Every iteration is getting more awesome. A deeper pocket clip and dark bronze ano would make it stupendous!
 
I like persians, and I like this. I'll like it even more if the clip ends up further back on the handle. I'll be keeping an eye open.

Thanks everyone! I too am stoked! I was told the Nomad will be at SHOT. I don't know how many will be there. I have not received an official date for availability other than, shortly after the show. I am hoping that means a month or less.
 
I almost forgot, I believe it will be available at most of the online dealers. I have spoken to several and they are planning on ordering.
 
Love the shape of the blade and handle on this one. Has pricing been released?
