Yesterday, I got to meet knifemaker and fellow HIKV 'sufferer' Rene Roy at the gun and knife show in Marlboro, Massachusetts. He had his Ang Khola out to draw people to his table, but it looked like he sold all of his knives when I got there and was selling some Delbert Ealy damascus billetts and some Hideaway knives.

I think I saw two other makers there, but they didn't have Himalayan Imports khukris and, therefore, I can't remember their names...

It was great to meet you, Rene!

Hey Thom,
Yes, It was great to meet you Thom...and yes..I had my new Ang Khola Khukuri with me...I had put it on the table the first day of the show..and it drew so many people over to the table...I just left it there the second day...I had quite a few offers to sell it...but I kindly refused...it was my good luck charm...I had a great show!;)

Just think what a draw a 30" Sirupati would be, Rene! Who could resist being magnetically drawn to a table with that thing lying there shimmering and shining?

( You can have your leg back now ;) ;) ;) )

Rusty, I bet it would magnetically draw them to the table...:D It was amazing to see how many people wanted to pick it up and play with it!
:D ;) :):D

Being that you're a knifemaker, are you interested in tweaking the khukuri to ultra high standards? I saw some of the knives featured on your website; you are truly an artist! Still waiting for that block of presentation ironwood I ordered; it should look outrageous on a Chitlangi! Dan :)

Sounds like you've got a good case of HIKV there, Roy! :D We'd all love to see what you do with your khukuris in the future. :) Dan

Thanks Dan,
By the way...my name is Rene (rainy)! Roy is the last name...this happens all the time....

Stoddards, the legendary Boston knife store which has been in business for a couple of hundred years had an HI Janawar Katne, 38 inches and about 9 pounds, hanging on their store wall to inspire conversation.

The knife remained on the wall "not for sale" until one day a Saudi prince entered the store and took a liking to the Janawar Katne. He mentioned his interest in the khukuri and was told that it was not for sale. He replied, "yes it is," and the khukuri now lives in Saudi Arabia. Maybe Bruise has seen it there.

There you go, Rene, you need a REAL large khukuri for the next show!
Dan :)

Rene, what sort of 'fancy pins' do you have in mind? And where do you get them?

I'm just starting out making knives (actually, I even flatter myself with THAT description), and I like the look of the mosaic pins. Just wondering if there were other 'fancy' ones.

Thanks.
