I have a NIB Renegade G-10 C23GPS 3/04/02 JL
GIN-1 Steel
Seki-City Japan

Trying to figure out a value.
Thanks,
Alpha

MSRP in 1994 was $137. I'm not sure when it was discontinued though. I'd pay $75 for it, but a Spyderco collector would probably get a bit higher (around $100) for NIB.

Hard to say. The market for most "collectible" Spydercos has been weaker this year than in the past. The fact it's combo edge and Seki built, as opposed to being one of the older Golden built Renegades, both work to keep the value down. I'm inclined to think $100 is high, but the best way to get a more accurate idea would be to keep an eye on eBay for a while.

$80-100 , as The Deacon said, combo + seki produced isn't the grail renegade die hard collectors would prize above all others. ;)

It's one of the very few Spyderco models that was made in Seki City Japan and it was at one time also made in Golden CO USA as well. It's my hunch that the Golden CO models will be the ones that will be sought after as collector's pieces before the Seki City models will.

The Seki model is well built and I don't know how many were made at Golden versus how many were made at Seki City. But I still maintain the Golden models will be the ones most coveted because they were made there first from what I've been told.

The Renegade model has a little brother known as the Blackhawk model. I believe the values of both models will be very similar if not the same. Values on Spyderco knives change so fast on some models I would not even begin to give you a concrete price on that old of model at this time. But if you can buy one for $80 or less and have patience I do think your investment would pay off good in a 3 to 5 year time period.

I carried a Renegade model for almost a year and it was a great EDC folder. AS far as I know it was Spyderco's first G-10 folder.

Thanks for the good input. I bought it about 6 years ago and it has been sitting new in my collection.

Another item of interest concerning the Seki City made Renegade model is the availability in edge variants. I don't see many of the Seki Renegades in plain edge. Most all of them including the one I carried for a year was a combo edge

On the flip side the Golden CO models of the Renegade that I seen in collections along with the ones I had were either fully serrated or plain edged. I don't recall ever having a Golden CO Renegade model in combo edge. The Golden CO model in Spyderedge is one wicked serrated Spyder and I would recommend one of those for a serious work folder if you were to ever get one used.

Both the Renegade and Blackhawk would be very interesting sprint runs in newer blade steels.
