Hey folks, I have no expectation of this working but my wife insist I toss this out there despite the incredibly short notice.

She's pondering going to Reno tail end of October when her catering job slows down. The hotel rates and stuff are into off season rates.

What cost over 500 summer before last for only 3 nights is like 180 bucks for like 5 nights.

There are a number of hurtles for me, a high mileage van, desire to drive that far again and refusing to fly cause they will only take me aboard as a nekkid sheep. Oh an the usual thing Money!

What could probably override these hurtles would be if a few forumite friends could meet up there for a get together.

To me there's really only one big thing to see in Reno and that's Auntie and truth be told she's not all that big in stature, but she's huge in my mind. The car museum is way cool. I didn't hit any of the casino's and stuff in the main down town part of town so some unchartered territory.

I'm thinking planning a little further out might yield some better result, maybe spring or even this time next year?

Also would have to confirm that Auntie will be in town and willing and have time to visit. I don't want to overwhelm her, she is busy enough as is.

So I'm just tossing the idea out there. Give me your thoughts.

Works for me, but then, I'm just 3 1/2 hours away.

Give me some dates, and I can probably work something out. I'll most definately be staying at the Eldorado, because my casino host is there, and I can get room discounts. If anyone else would like to stay there, I can probably swing a casino rate for a room (approx $35.00 - $55), or suite.

Best dates for me. November 24 - Nov 30, 2014; April 8 - 10, 2015; Summer May 29 - August 15, 2015.

Of course, Weekends work best for me, and I'll be able to swing something with enough notice.

There's always fishing, and stuff to do up in Reno too.

We stayed at a place called Grand Sierra. Great big place, course they are all great big places. This is kind of off by itself, big parking lot, open spaces.

Bunch of eating joints and shops inside and stuff. Imagine they are all pretty much the same, I don't get out much so it was kind of overwhelming for me.

Kind of wish I was only 3 1/2 hours away, I'd be there frequently trying to help Auntie out. Maybe cut her grass, unpack sharp pointy things, polish sharp pointy things, oil sharp pointy things, fondle sharp pointy things.....man I'm having a nice daydream here.

Well that's two El Dorado's right out of the chute, must be a popular place. Most of the ones in town had funny parking or garages or something. I need a place for a full size van with a derelict in it to boot.

Would be cool to be in the thick of things, I saw lots of pawn shops and stuff that didn't visit cause I couldn't find a place to park. The roads in that town are a bowl of spaghetti to me, course I got lost on an island once, no sense of direction.
Nice thing about the place we was at, it was real tall and you could see it from a far piece and know what direction to go.

Mr. B, the Eldoradi is a Casino/Hotel, and definately in the middle of downtown Reno. It is near Harrah's, Silver Legacy, Circus Circus, and Cal-Neva. Boomtown, Peppermill, Nugget, and Atlantis isn't too far away.

It also has a parking structure, and free parking.

Pawn Shop and the like are all nearby as well.

We have stayed there several er to Auburn times when I go over to Auburn to gold prospect. We do like the food. We do like thew deserts, too. They like the wife because she buys all that stuff in their shops and keeps coming back for more. There was this older clerk that works there........she fell in love and it's a looong story!

My buddy goes to Auburn to gold prospect too. Ever since he got married and had two kids, I don't think he's gone for about 4-5 years. He's got everything, even his underwater gear!

We go to Reno for the gambling, food, relaxation, and now to see auntie...:)

We may have to have a reunion. A reunion of people who are consistently broke from purchasing "just one more".
