Interesting - I don't think I've seen sheep inlays since the interframe folder era... I like it a lot. I think an oval inlay would look great in burled ironwood too....:D

i really like the looks of those. very innovative and well executed. Great idea!

Also, folks, don't think Dan's knives are just for looks. I got a hunter from him in Atlanta last year and took with me to work at a wilderness camp for 4 months. That knife was beat to hell and loved every minute. Dan makes a great user that will take any knife related chore you throw it at. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one of these if i were going to the Reno show. You won't be disapointed.

Boy! that's nice to hear... Thanks Jeremy. I should add that the stag/walnut has ebony sandwiched down the center, like a framed handle.
Thanks for the kind comments!

Dan,

Awesome work, my friend! Inlays look very good and I love the spacers on the top knife. They won't be around long I'm sure. Have a great show!

Dan,

Before I pulled that knife out to use and hand off the kids I worked with, I remebered what you told me at Blade. You said that you liked it when people used your knives, cause that was what they were for. You said you hated to hear of one of your pieces sitting in a display case. As beautiful as the knife was, I rememeber what you told me the day I bought. So I used it hard and enjoyed every minute. I even sold off most of my knives that were shelf setters shortly after, becase this knife has helped teach me that the real joy of owning a custom knife comes from using it. I now won't buy a knife I won't use, because I really don't get any joy of sticking a knife in the safe. Carrying/using these knives always helps remind me of the people I meet in this business, specifically the makers who make them. So if anyone here buys these knives or any other from Dan at the show, do yourself a favor and use them hard. That is what they were made for and that is a true joy in itself.

Dan,

Boy am I glad I'm coming to Reno. Watch out - I'll be looking for you!

Real nice knives as always Dan. Makes me wish (for the hundredth time) I was going to Reno. Bringing any fighters or bowies?

Roger

Dan,

The knives are terrific AND I really like the idea of marking the type of steel on the ricasso. Perhaps I am alone, but I think that the handle inlay actually slightly detracts from the great lines of both designs. Thanks for the advanced look, I am sure that they will fly off your table.

Dan,
Your handles always stand out - whether it's gold wire inlay, interesting material, texture, and color combinations, or just that spectacular finish you put on your walnut. Always a pleasure to see.
