Renormalize after botched quench

I heat treated 5 80CrV2 knives. After the quench a file was still cutting the steel. I was running out of propane and stores were closed. I tried to hurry which lead to incomplete hardening. Would it be it be beneficial to run the normalizing cycles again before quenching?

You're probably good to go, just as it is. You might also make sure you've got through the decarb before you try rehardening.

correct. Could be decarb. Otherwise, just run it again. No difference in performance.

Take one to the grinder and clean up the edge. I bet the file will skate after that.
