Has anyone tried to replace removable scales on their knives? I removed the G-10 from my Stryker the other day to give it a good cleaning and I got to thinking about how good the knife would look with rag micarta - anything but black G10!

I myself own a Stryker and I didnt even know you could remove the scales...
Thats awsome, the micarta sounds like a great idea....

Carver,

Those look nice. Nice touch on the Stiff K.I.S.S. I always thought they needed just a little something extra. Is carbon fiber easy to work with? I've heard you need a respirator to protect you from the dust.

Carbon fiber is fairly easy to work with.As you said the dust is the main thing to guard against with splinters coming in a close second.

Here's my first attempt at replacing scales. The results of having a rainy Sunday afternoon (couldn't go fishing) and having a small slab of caramel mastadon ivory on hand. My wife scrimshawed the scales the following day for me. I have been encouraging her to learn scrimshaw
